Reclaiming America’s Moral Compass

A gathering to address the cruelties inflicted upon immigrants and the poor, hungry, and sick – both overseas and at home.

This Gathering is a continuation in our series to bring together people of faith, faith committees, and faith leaders to address critical & current social issues so that we may learn from one another and act unitedly.

The Gathering will address the root causes of dehumanization or “othering” and its impact on vulnerable communities. Panels will highlight current programs that support immigrants and America’s poor (local) and compassionate foreign aid (afar).

THE SOURCE OF JUSTICE IS MERCY

Where once the U.S. led the world in compassionate foreign aid, recent political decisions have increased hardship globally, symbolizing a growing indifference to human misery and life’s sanctity.

What causes lay at the root of such inhumane decisions, especially directed at those who live with fewer resources – including Americans whose lives depend on SNAP, access to affordable health care and reliable shelter?

The common thread between immigration abuses and the destruction of compassionate aid programs is not viewing our neighbors as full human beings, children of God, possessing a history, coming from a family and community, holding their own set of hopes and dreams.

An Interfaith Gathering

As people of faith (Christians, Jews, Muslims, others), we act so that God’s love is felt by ALL. Together let us stand for our ideals as Americans and in service to our God, loving our neighbors as ourselves.
